Haritalika Teej is a day in Vedic Ashwin month, dedicated to the bond of love between Lord Shiva and Parwati. Parwati, a next incarnation to Goddess Sati, was supposed to get Lord Shiva after rebirth while her marriage got arranged with Lord Vishnu later. Seeing her dedication towards Shiva a girlfriend kindnapped her from her house to go and worship Lord Shiva which she did and finally got Lord Shiva as husband. This is the first love story in the world we ever know. This day is remembered as the first initiation of Parwati towards Shiva.
